The sampan was in the act of leaving the 8.S.

"Monteagle" with a passenger but on seeing the Police Launch returned to the gangway and the passenger escaped on board where search was made for him without success. From clothing papers etc., found along with the ammunition there is little doubt that the passenger was a member of the vessel's crew, The sampan woman was charged but acquitted, the ammunition etc. forfeited.
